Selçuk Üniv. Tıp Fak. Göz Hast AD. Cavernous hemangioma of the retina is a rare vascular hamartoma. In this article a 3 year old boy with this rare tumor in his right eye was described. Saccular aneurysms filled with dark colored blood, were detected in the upper nasal quadrant of the right fundus of the patient who was presented with low vision and strabismus in the same eye. Flourescein angiogarphy revealed that the lesion was stained in mid and latevenous phases with erythocyte-plasma layering. No leakage was observed. Depending on these characteristic features the lesion was diagnosed as cavernous hemangioma. Systemic investigations did not reveal any neurologic or dermatologic associations.
