Serous Macular Detachment in Retinal Vascular Disease
İstanbul Retina Enstitüsü, İstanbul, Doç. Dr.
Serous macular detachment has only recently been recognized to occur in a significant number of eyes with retinal vascular disease including diabetic retinopathy, branch retinal vein occlusion and central retinal vein occlusion. These serous retinal detachments associated with retinal vascular leakage were not suspected clinically or angiographically but were diagnosed with optical coherence tomography (OCT) beneath the edematous neurosensory retina. The implification of shallow foveal detachment may be helpful in better understanding the pathogenesis of these disorders. In addition, the recognition of serous macular detachment may also help to beter guide and assess the results of therapy in the future.
