Stargardt disease is an autosomal recessive disorder that photoreceptor damage seen duo to the BRCA4 gene mutations. Lipofuscin that accumulates in retinal pigment epithelium have been implicated in photoreceptor damage. Spectral domain- optical coherence tomography (SD- OCT) is a high- resolution imaging modality for evaluation of the layers of the retina. SD-OCT is a useful imaging modality to show the photoreceptor damage in macular dystrophies like Stargardt disease.
