1M.D. Malatya State Hospital, Eye Clinic, Malatya/TURKEY2M.D. Professor, Cukurova University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, Adana/TURKEY The laser beams used for epilation procedure are harmful to the human eye. This laser beam causes cell damage with a thermal/thermo-mechanical effect. Using laser beams to the eye region may cause severe complications such as iris atrophy, posterior synechia and cataract. We had three female patients, aged of 26, 28 and 41 years, who presented at our clinic. With complications after having been shot by the laser beam mistakenly to the eye or had treatment to the eyebrow area. Treatment and follow-up in each case were evaluated and presented. It is very important to take precautions by providing safety goggles to keep the patients safe from the unrecoverable side effects of the laser beam and knowing the effects of lasers in non-medical applications.
