Ankara Retinitis pigmentosa is an inherited degenerative retinal disorder characterized by photoreceptor and retinal pigment epithelium specific gene mutations that lead to dysfunction of these cells and death by apoptosis. In this review recent developing treatment modalities including gene therapy, anti-apoptotic therapy, vitamin A and other medical strategies, transplantation and retinal prosthesis are discussed.
