Ankara Üniv. Tıp Fak. Göz Hast. ABD.
Paraneoplastic Retinopathy (Cancer Associated Retinopathy-CAR) is defined as the remote effect of cancer in lack of antineoplastic agents, nutritional deficiency, tumor itself and metastases. In this syndrome visual loss is caused by retinal functional deficiency. More recent investigations have implicated an immumologically based pathogenesis. Broncogenic carcinoma is the most common malignancy seen together with paraneoplastic retinopathy . Etiology and treatment isn't fully understood but corticosteroids can be tried. In this article; etiopathogenesis, presentation, diagnosis and treatment of paraneoplastic retinopathy is reviewed.
