²Dr., Behçet Uz Çocuk Hastanesi, İzmir Tuberous sclerosis is a rare, hereditary phacomatosis with multisystem involvement. The most common ocular manifestation is astrocytic hamartomas of the retina and optic nerve. Three morphologically different types of these benign tumors are defined; the more commonly described nodular, calcified tumors; relatively flat, semitransparent, noncalcified tumors; and a third lesion that possesses features of the other two.
