In the present study, we investigated the effects of ischemia-reperfusion injury on streptozotocin-diabetic rat retina by histologic and histomorphometric analysis. Our results suggested that diabetic state made the retina more suspectible to ischemia-reperfusion injury even in ischemic periods shorter than the tolerance time of normal retina.
