Photodynamic Therapy to Choroidal Neovascular Membrane Secondary to Choroideremia
Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, İzmir
Case Report: Choroideremia is an X linked, recessively inherited, progressive, diffuse degeneration of the choroid, retinal pigment epithelium and photoreceptor cells. The complication of choroidal neovascularization or fibrous tissue with choroideremia is very rare and spontaneous resolution of the neovascular membrane is possible. We present the results of photodynamic treatment in a case with choroideremia complicated choroidal neovascular membrane in the right eye. PDT was performed twice for CNV during 18 month follow-up. Final visual acuity was 0.8 with Snellen chart in the same eye and restricted fibrous tissue was detected in the macular area. PDT for CNV in a patient with choroideremia may be an effective choice of treatment to stabilize or to increase visual acuity.
