A 58-year-old woman presented with sudden onset and painless loss of vision in the right eye that occurred 5 days ago. Visual acuity was counting fingers and fundus examination revealed diffuse retinal pallor and edema except papillomacular bundle. Microperimetric evaluation revealed decreased retinal sensitivity except cilioretinal artery zone parallel to fundoscopy. The patient underwent hyperbaric oxygen treatment and visual acuity increased to 0.16 at the 1st month control. In addition to significant increase in retinal sensitivity, microperimetric evaluation revealed regression of scotoma in central 20°. Microperimetry enables rapid and safe evaluation of retinal sensitivity and is useful to demonstrate the functional progress in central retinal artery occlusion.
