3Okmeydanı Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Göz Hast. Kliniği, İstanbul, Prof. Dr. Purpose: To evaluate clınıcal course, complication and therapeutic management in angiod streaks patients.
Materials and Methods: Ten pateins with angioid streaks were evaluated retrospectively. All patients underwent complete ocular examination with determination bestcorrected visual acuity both before treatment and at all follow-up visit.
Results: This study was included 20 eyes of six men and four women. Their age was changed between 30-66 (mean 51.8) years. We determined 5 eyes with choroidal neovasculariation (CNV), 7 eyes with scar in macular due to CNV in first visit. During follow up CNV was developed in 2 eyes of 15 eyes that had not CNV in first visit. Totally CNV developed in 7 eyes. 5 eyes were treated with photodynamic therapy (PDT), one with Intravitreal bevacizumab and one with combination therapy. Visual acuity was unchanged in one patient, increased in three patients, and decreased in one patient following photodynamic therapy. After 2 dose of IVB visual acuity was increased from 0.2 to 0.5 in one patient. We performed combination therapy two times in one patient and visual acuity was increased from one meter finger-counting to 0.2.
Conclusion: Angioid streaks is usually asymptomatic so its incidence is too high than is estimated to be. PDT for choroidal neovascularization–associated with angioid streaks does not appear to significantly alter the course of this disease but İVB or combination therapy have hopeful result.
