Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları Although symphatethic ophthalmia is frequently complicated by serous retinal detachment, we could not find out any reported case characterized by bilateral retinoschisis associated with a symphatethic ophthalmia in the current ophthalmic literature. We reported a smphatethic ophthalmia patients associated with bilateral degenerative retinoschisis. We think that degenerative retinoschisis develops from leaking of subretinal exudate into the intraretinal layers. After that, these layers separate from each other on the basis of appropriate histopathological condition and retinoschisis ensues.
