ANATOMICAL AND FUNCTIONAL CURE IN RETINAL DETACHMENTS DUE TO BLUNT OR PERFORATING GLOBE INJURIES
SSK Ankara Hastanesi 2. Göz Kliniği
Purpose: To examine the anatomical and functional cure rates in retinal detachment due to blunt or perforating globe injuries.Method: Between June 1995 and October 1997, 67 eyes of 67 patients with retinal detachment due to blunt or perforating globe injuries are included in our study.
Results: The anatomical cure rate for retinal detachment due to blunt trauma is 80.9% while the same rate for perforating trauma is 73.9% (p>0.05). The functional cure rates are 71.4% and 69.5% respectively (p>0.05).
Conclusion: Although, the anatomical and functional cure rates in retinal detachment due to blunt trauma are higher than perforating group; the difference between the two rates is not statistically important. Keywords : Blunt globe injury, perforating globe injury, retinal detachment
