2M.D. Professor, Ulucanlar Eye Training and Research Hospital, Ankara/TURKEY To report a 14 year old girl with idiopathic choroidal neovascular membrane (CNVM) treated with single dose intraviteral aflibercept injection.
A 14 year old girl who presented with loss of vision in the left eye. Visual acuity was 0.2 and subfoveal choroidal neovascular membrane was detected in the left eye. As a result of angiographic and optic coherens tomographic evaluation, classic CNVM was found. No associated ocular or systemic diseases was detected and the lesion was evaluated as idiopathic CNVM. Single dose of intravitreal aflibercept (Eylea®) 2 mg/0.05 ml was injected into the left eye. At a month follow-up visit, visual acuity improved to 0,6. At the end of a year visual acuity was 0.8 in the left eye and no recurrence was noted during follow-up.
Conclusion: Idiopathic CNVM is very rare in children and treatment with single dose intravitreal aflibercept can result anatomical and functional success during one year follow-up without side effects and recurrence.
