Başkent Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hast. A.D., Ankara
Purpose: Ocular complications can be seen in patients with multiple myeloma which is the prototype of plasma cell neoplasms that originates from the bone marrow. Hyperviscosity syndrome can rarely be a component of multiple myeloma and when associated with it, central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) can be the result of this situation. In this article, possible causes of CRVO in a 52- year-old man with Immunglobulin A type multiple myeloma are discussed and the relation between multiple myeloma, hyperviscosity syndrome and CRVO is evaluated. Keywords : Central retinal vein occlusion, hyperviscosity syndrome, multiple myeloma.
