Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Anti VEGF Agents

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a growth factor specific for endothelial cells. It is a regulator of vasculogenesis and angiogenesis and a potent inducer of vascular permeability. Additional VEGF functions under study include retinal leukostasis and neuroprotection. This review focuses on the biology of the VEGF gene family and VEGF-A isoforms ve anti-VEGF agent.
