Materials and Methods: Six eyes of 6 patients with CNV due to AS were enrolled. Visual acuity testing, systemic ophthalmologic examination, fluorescein angiography (FA) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) were used to evaluate the results of IVB treatment 2.5 mg/0.1 ml. Follow up examination were scheduled at each month and retreatments were considered when leakage was observed at FA and subretinal fluid observed in OCT.
Results: Mean follow-up time was 6.6 months, during which eyes received an average of 3 injections. The baseline visual acuity was a mean of 0.36 logMAR and improved to 0.30 logMAR at the last visit. By the last follow-up there were 1 line increased in visual acuity in 2 patients (33%) and 2 lines in 3 patients (50%). One patient (16%) had the same visual acuity at the last follow-up. During follow-up no systemic or local complications were noted.
Conclusions: Our short-term results in 6 patients support the use of IVB for the management of CNV in patients with AS. Further study with longer follow-up and large series is warranted to assess the long term efficacy and safety of IVB in this population.
